It seems like every good business requires a small loan of a couple of billion dollars to get off the ground nowadays. But what do you do when your parents aren’t made of money, and you’re just an ordinary citizen/ graduate looking to be self-employed?
Schools and universities are not obsolete, and neither will be in any short time. However, half a person’s education seems to come from over the net nowadays. Information is available for free in truckloads online. Anyone can learn anything if they search a bit for it.
However, the research isn’t always easy. The information may be there, but it’s scattered. And more often than not, people have a hard time learning when someone isn’t teaching them.
Courses are extremely popular commodities. People are willing to pay a lot for online courses that they can learn while sitting at home. Courses that offer certification are top-rated, as you can put those on resumes and in portfolios.
If you know about a specific topic, build a few tutorials and videos on it. You can join an institution and upload it all on their site or your channel. If you’re a newbie and have no ties to any institutions, you may have to offer the first few lectures for free to give people a taste of what you’re offering for them to check whether or not it’s worth their time.
Freelancing is a broad term, and it applies to all sorts of things. Freelancing refers to independent contracting, i.e., being hired for separate tasks instead of a steady monthly job. Freelancers offer all kinds of services: voice records, write-ups, images, videos, tutorials, edits, etc.
As an independent freelancer, you’ll have to find clients online and look for work on websites. The pay will vary, and you won’t always have a client. But it’s much more comfortable, self-regulated, and often more profitable than getting a job at an institution somewhere.
Or, you can start a consultancy firm that works with more prominent companies and firms. Here, the payment will be more excellent, and there’ll be a higher chance of finding work. But it will also take a lot more effort to run, especially as the firm grows.
This job is essentially the work of a middle man. You will have a webpage of your own to display products and services and take orders from customers. However, you or your firm will not be offering the product or service; another party will be providing that. Your job is to get the customers.
This idea is good to follow through on if you’ve got a solid social media presence or a big audience. You won’t have to pay the expenses of owning a warehouse or hire people who can offer the service. You need to connect the suppliers to willing customers. You will get a significant fraction of the commission for that.
